Just passing by sending some 🥊 great video, got 2 quad systems and a octo card. But love to combine both UAD and SSL native plug-ins with in each session. Wanted to point out that I am a Blind producer for those that need services for mix and masters.

Love your videos, especially because you use the same DAW as I do. So, have you found a way to control (change) the input gain in Studio One (the control at the top of each channel in the mixer) with the UF1 or UF8? Is there an easy way to do that?

Great vid. Iam a newbie in recording guitars. Can you please clarify a couple of things for me 1. Can I plug my guitar into my preamp and the line out from the preamp into HI Z input or the inputs in the back? Basically I want to record my amp into my DAW. One way is to mic the amp and plug that Mic into the line input at the back of Apollo. But suppose I don’t want to mic my amp. How can I introduce my amp in the loop between Apollo and DAW?

This was free, now they want 50 bucks. The Softube FET often goes for that or even cheaper than that and I far prefer it. It has the all in mode of course as well as look ahead options, and high and low pass in the detector path. Pulsar really are up there with pricing, that's for sure.

Setting my track fader meters to pre fader made mixing so much easier for consistent gain through plugins. You can monitor output levels at bus to make sure it has good level for processing.

You should try the new version of Steven Slate Audio VSX. They have fixed the issues with the headphones and the software if better than Realphones. I have bout of the produts.

I took the sides off of my X-Touch and was able to squeeze it into a (very specific) 19” rack drawer. It lives in a 6sp Rack Unit w/ an X32 Rack and a small network switch. What sucked was Behringer’s poor information on how to integrate the X-Touch with the X32. That said…once you figure it out, it is a tight system.

3D is cool but how is the accuracy, comparison with Slate?

Theres way more movement/space/depth with the hardware, as always. The hardware does, what you would want it to do: bring the space/room-sound to life. The plugins simply are not doing that for me - especially on stereo tracks

Re comment on not being able to see the values when making adjustments in 360; the value is shown on the small display, lower middle on the hardware. Thanks for yet another priceless video Uncle Dave. You made my life better with all your tuition

Got on top of all this, except for some reason transport won't work (Logic Pro). Anyone else had this? In fact just realised that even the space bar stops working when 360 is launched. So far havent been able to trace the problem

Lately, this has been my favorite headphone plugin. I find it more useful than the VSX when paired with a decent pair of headphones. I still use VSX, but I reach for Realphones first on my Audeze headphones, then use VSX to check. If I don’t like the average eq profile they provide for a pair of headphones, I go online and use something like the Oratory1990 EQ settings and plug the values into a custom profile.

Did you do all your tracking before using pipeline with your hardware for the mix?

I came here for this tutorial, because I already have several of your courses which have really helped me progress. Now you did it again. I got a UC1 a little while ago and immediately got overwhelmed with it. In hald an hour, you’ve got me completely at home with it. You are truly a star Dave, thank you!

Friend had the slate version and I was not impressed with the headphones that need to be used with the slate software. Once I tried the demo of this program and all of the profiles of my mixing headphones it came with I was sold .

I've been using the Waves Abbey Road one together with he Hornet one (forgot the name) and, yeah, I dunno. I don't feel very confident making decisions based on them, to be honest.

Good video. Okay, now I understand what this kind of software is for. Thanks for that. It looks like the Ultimate Bundle is the one you're using. I think the car environment is important, unfortunately the standard version doesn't come with any car environments. I guess I'd have to pony up for the "Professional" version or else I'll regret it later.

i have this plugin since long time but i never used it cause i never find out how to download the Headphone Frequency Response files on there website.. How did you do..??

Since I will be primarily mixing on headphones this looks like a worthy tool. I did notice that you turned the "Environment" slider down to 52% at a point and left it there. When you changed between the different listening sets, the slider stayed at 52% so you were not getting the full correction effect. Something to be mindful of. I also noticed that you have the IK Multimedia tool on your dock. Are you using that room correction for your studio monitor environment? Thanks

Looks like the standard for $69 might not have all the options you showed in the demo.. Which version did you demo? limited, Professional, Ultimate?

I like that you can use your own headphones and still get a bunch of environments to check your mix against. I've been using the Waves CLA NX for quite awhile and really like it. You also use your own headphones (they have a bunch of headphone profiles as well), but it's just the one room. May have to check this out for some of the additional environments. Love realphones, my room acoustics are terrible and I was struggling to even get a demo mix that would translate, realphones also corrected the headphone bias on my BD1770's

Hey Dave, nice video. I was thinking about this implementation since I have been looking for a used Euphonix/Avid MC control that uses Eucon as the control protocol and it can emulates Mackie HUI. I think the issue that you are facing is not related to the controllers themselves but to the implementation on the software side, because on the MC control and the system 5 with the hybrid option, that didn’t happen, you were able to bank for the entire console and everything was following the changes, so I believe it’s a matter of how the control protocol is implemented within the DAW, or maybe how the Mackie Control is deployed between the controllers and the software. Maybe SSL can fix this while having something like a layout control, something Euphonix and Avid used to do really well in Eucon. Another thing, you mentioned that you cannot control 2 channels or parameters at the same time while mixing in the box, well that is possible when using the EUCON protocol with the proper controller, you can actually adjust two EQs, Compressors, Faders, etc. at the same time because the protocolo allows it. Thank you for taking the time to show this, the stands are beautifully designed and really well done, and even having these little issue, your set up looks killer. Thanks again, Dave!

You sir are a life saver!

These are definitely beautiful stand units. The wood is finished really nicely. My only gripes with these stands is how my additional bulk they add to the controller units, which make they even more difficult to place on your desk. In most cases I don't think the wrist rests are helpful, although they add to the look, as most of the time your computer keyboard will sit ahead of it on your desk, so the wrist rest is redundant.

i have uc1 and uf1. its pretty fast. and i probably will not go for the uf8. the uc1 gives you bank left and right, 4 knobs as channel faders and a "5-8" button to bank through your main bank. so you always have fader control quickly. its super duper for me. i've been using the eChannel since the ole pirate bay days so its really great solution.

I am a huge UA user I love UA like you I have the Octo and an Apollo 8 but it’s ridiculous that I spent $4000 on DSP and can only run 10 of those plugins….hopefully things start changing soon….i gotta tell ya though dave that the new waves SSL EV2 is really good and also has that wide option on it….but my favorite to work with by quite a bit is the Brainworx by plug in alliance….not because it sounds way better but because I feel like it’s an easy work flow for me…..I use the SSL 4000 G series for my mixes but sometimes I will change it up.

I am really getting to like Luna's DAW and it is now avalible for Windows for free so they say, but I am sticking with Apple and my MacBook Pro. Thanks for the video, the free course also at the end, deffinatly going to check that out. SuperDavidScott!

My take is that, for working on Channel strips, YES you only need one fader, and surely you wouldn't need the UF8s, however the UF8 is very useful when you want to sit and balance tracks. having physical channels (8 or 16) is very useful. some producers value the art of Balancing tracks over fine-tuning individual FXs and EQs. So My conclusion is that if you value balancing tracks, then surely you will need the UF8s, but if your strength and value is mainly in tuning indivifdiual track sounds to perfection quickly then the UF1+UC1 is more than enough. AND for some of us that value both work flows, I will encourage you add at least 1 UF8 to your setup. moving multiple faders at once is so sweet and invaluable especially when a client wants a rough feel of his track. moving faders for them to hear the various versions of the sounds through balancing tracks is just fantastic. I also allow my clients to play with one or 2 faders, so they feel part of the engineering process. builds great client relationships that way as well.
